The interview took place on July 30, 2018, in the country's capital Phnom Penh.

Erin Handley, Australian, and Alessandro Marazzi Sassoon, double nationality American-Italian, were both journalists at the Phnom Penh Post for the past three years.

They quit their post two days after the daily newspaper was sold to a Malaysian entrepreneur close to Cambodian PM Hun Sen at the beginning of May of this year.

Entrambi erano giornalisti al Phnom Penh Post da circa tre anni.

The sale appears to have been a transitional measure as the ownership of the Post seems to have moved into the hands of a Chinese
real estate group in recent days, but no details on such sale have been released.

Erin and Alessandro were among a dozen colleagues to quit their job immediately after their editor in chief was fired for having wanted to write and publish an article critical of the sale to the Malaysian businessman.
